Calicut has always had a deep love for shawarma. We wanted to honour it, and then take it somewhere new. Berlin Doner Kebab brings the craft of Berlin’s great doner counters to Panniyankara: toasted bread, crisp salad, layered sauces and meat carved from the spit. One standard, every order. The idea
Born in Berlin. Perfected for Calicut.
In the early 1970s, Berlin’s doner masters took meat from the spit and gave it a proper home: warm, toasted flatbread, generous fresh salad and sauces layered with care. A quick bite became a ritual. Half a century later, the city still queues for it at lunch, after work and long past midnight.
That ritual is what we brought to Calicut. Nothing is assembled ahead. The bread is toasted when you order, the chicken is carved from the spit, and every sauce is our own. Our Berlin Signature arrives wrapped in BDK paper; the same flavours are plated as platters and kebab boxes for those who prefer to linger.
This is not shawarma as Calicut has known it. It is shawarma as it should be.
The seal
A mark made with intent.
- The spit. Our BDK monogram stands inside a vertical doner spit, the heart of every great counter and the heart of ours.
- The flames. Two flames for the fire that does the real work: slow, steady heat and meat carved at its best.
- The promise. “Authentic Shawarma” crowns the seal. Doner and shawarma share one soul, and we serve both with the respect they deserve.
- The colours. Deep burgundy and brushed gold: warm, rich and unhurried, like the food itself.

A roll on the way home. A platter shared with friends. A box for a quiet dinner in. Our menu moves from doner in bread and shawarma rolls to doner platters, kebab boxes, loaded fries and salads. For vegetarian guests we have Berlin Veg Royal, Greek Salad, Falafel Box, and French Fries. Younger guests have a Kids Box of their own.
